globe visit online dating websites every year, hoping to find a companion or
even a soul mate. Sometimes, such escapades may end up on a good note. But
oftentimes many have become victims of illusions created out of their own
ignorance. It is no longer a fiction that criminals are now using these sites
too, looking to turn the lonely and vulnerable into fast money through a
variety of scams.
These con artists who also troll
social media sites and chat rooms in search of romantic victims usually claim
to be citizen of a country working abroad. In reality, they often live
overseas. Their most common targets are women between the age group of 40-80
years who are; divorcees, widowers, or disables. But every age group and
demographic is at risk.
